This is the first video in a series about electronics, more specifically Tesla coils and wireless energy transmission. My goal is to make the largest possible single transistor solid state Tesla coil.
This particular Tesla coil is of the “slayer exciter” variety. The general concept is the same, however the driving circuits are different. In a traditional Tesla coil, high voltage AC is used and stepped up to produce the electromagnetic effects desired.
In this circuit, simple low voltage DC is fed into a transistor, and the primary coil rapidly charges and collapses around the secondary coil, which induces the electromagnetic field.
The output and the range of this type of coil is a function the frequency of DC pules fed into the base of the transistor and the peak DC voltage being fed into the collector of the transistor.
The end result on the secondary is a plasma beam of several thousand volts, somewhere in the lower MHZ range.
I plan on doing much more with this coil and it’s variants, I may even offer kits and full models in the future so stay tuned!
This isn’t exactly “free energy” or anything like that, however this demonstrates how far of an efficiency gap there is with today’s electronics.
